Cape Coast Castle

The 16th century Cape Coast Castle was a key part of the slave trade and was founded in the 1500’s and expanded by the Swedes in 1653. It is a monument with a historically colourful past, due to its relevance in the trans-atlantic slave-trade.

 

Visitors can enjoy guided tours to the castle, where historical facts can be shared on areas within the castle including Dalzel Tower, the slave dungeons, and the cannons and mortars used in the Castle’s defense.

 

Cape Coast Castle is also home of the West African Historical Museum which is the home to a growing collection of art and cultural objects.

Elimina Castle

Elmina Castle is the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea. It is a picturesque location, which is home to the well known St. Georges Castle and a small museum.

​

Though a very beautiful place, it is a place of an equally tumultuous past. Guided tours are available, where guests can be guided through the beautiful white walls of the grounds.

Takoradi and Sekondi

Takoradi is one of the lively cities in Ghana. It is a bustling seaport with a wealth of ancient and contemporary features. What was once a fishing village is now rich into a youth city, with a range of markets, restaurants and hotels. It has all of the necessary amenities including the train station, banks, post office and various food shops.

 

Takoradi is also home to Beach road, which is a wonderful place for the best local cuisine.
